The new three-phase 5-level current-source inverter (CSI) proposed in this paper was developed by connecting two classical current source inverters (CSIs) in cascade. This structure lend an output current harmonics minimization and without the use of high-frequency modulation. The output current waveform of the five-level CSI is composed of intermediary current levels, which are typically obtained from inductors current sources. The operational principle of this structure was analyzed. And to reduce the output current harmonics, triangular - sinusoidal PWM control technique was used. Simulation results showed that this new three-phase 5-level CSI topology operates correctly.

Analysis and Elimination of the Capacitive Feedthrough Current on Electrostatically Actuated and Sensed Resonance-Based MEMS Sensors
Kangul, Mustafa; Aydin, Eren; Gokce, Furkan; Zorlu, Ozge; Külah, Haluk (2017-12-01)
This paper presents the investigation of two different capacitive feedthrough current elimination methods with an analysis of the effect of the capacitive feedthrough current on the resonance characteristics of electrostatically actuated and sensed resonant MEMS sensors. Electrostatically actuated and sensed resonators have various applications, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, mass sensors, and temperature sensors. In most of these applications, as sensitivity increases, gain decreases. The capacitive f...
Performance enhancement of discrete time hysteresis current regulators and comparison with linear current regulators for parallel active filters
Oezkaya, Hasan; Sentuerk, Osman Selcuk; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2007-05-05)
In this work discrete time current regulation methods for three-phase parallel active filters (PAF) are investigated. With emphasis on PAF applications, linear and hysteresis current regulation methods are studied and improvements on the discrete time implementation of the latter type without any additional analog hardware are provided. The dependency of the switching ripple filter (SRF) type on the PAF current regulator (CR) type is considered and design methods provided. A PAF is designed for a three-phas...
Performance analysis and comparison of reduced common mode voltage PWM and standard PWM techniques for three-phase voltage source inverters
Un, E; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2006-03-23)
This paper investigates the performance characteristics of the reduced common mode voltage (RCMV) PWM methods for three phase voltage source inverters and provides a comparison with the standard PWM methods. PWM methods are reviewed and their pulse patterns and common mode voltage patterns illustrated. The AC output current ripple, DC link input current ripple, and output voltage linearity characteristics of each modulation method are thoroughly investigated by analytical methods and simulations. The analys...
Common-Mode Voltage Reduction Pulsewidth Modulation Techniques for Three-Phase Grid-Connected Converters
Hou, Chung-Chuan; Shih, Chih-Chung; Cheng, Po-Tai; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2013-04-01)
This paper experimentally investigates the performance of three-phase voltage source pulsewidth modulation (PWM) converter, with the grid interfaced photovoltaic energy conversion system being the main application. In such applications the ground leakage current [common mode current (CMC)] should be much less than an ampere and this is difficult to obtain in transformerless (direct) connected systems. With the target being the reduction of the common mode voltage (CMV) and CMC, the converter performance is ...
Modeling and design of iron-core shunt reactors with discretely distributed air-gaps
Dönük, Atilla; Ermiş, Muammer; Bilgin, Hazım Faruk; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
In this research work detailed parallel and series equivalent circuits of a gapped iron-core shunt reactor with discretely distributed gaps are derived. The validity of the recommended equivalent circuits is verified by Finite Element Analysis and laboratory tests. Effects of fringing flux and discretely distributed gaps on inductance parameters and reactor losses are also investigated. Moving Strip Method for discretely distributed gapped shunt reactors is recommended. Two design procedures for shunt react...
