APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ARRANGING PLAQUES INTO THE SAME ORIENTATION

2005-3-30
The plaque composing apparatus, the subject matter of the invention, provides composition, on a tray, of plaques, the inferior and superior surfaces of which look different, and which are used as flooring and covering material, in a manner that the identical surfaces of all are above. Plaques are poured, in a disorganized way, into the magazine (1) of the plaque composing apparatus, the subject of the invention, and the apparatus corrects the plaques taken from the magazine and composes (1) them on trays (15).

OPTIMIZATION AND SENSITIVITY OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS
ERBATUR, F; ALZAID, R; DAHMAN, NA (Elsevier BV, 1992-12-03)
This paper is concerned with the optimum design of prestressed concrete beams. Both minimum weight and minimum cost optimization formulations are given for simply supported beams having three different sections. Sensitivity of the optimum designs, with respect to various design parameters, are also discussed. The formulation is programmed for interactive use on micro-computers. An example is given and results are discussed.
Investigation of novel geometrical design concepts for damping treatments
Çavuş, Bertuğhan; Özgen, Gökhan Osman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-11)
Surface damping treatment concepts are developed utilizing viscoelastic materials as a damping layer where it is applied to the main structure. The main aim for adding these materials is to increase cyclic deformation in the frequency region of interest, which increases dissipated energy from the main structure. Constrained layer damping treatment is the most common, where the viscoelastic layer is constrained by a stiff top layer. Recently, a spacer or standoff layer has been added between the base and con...
An Evaluation of the Binders and Aggregates Used in Artificial Stone Architectural Claddings and Elements in Late 19th-Early 20th Centuries
Ersen, Ahmet; Gürdal, Erol ; Güleç, Ahmet ; Baturayoğlu Yöney, Nilüfer ; Polat Pekmezci, Işıl ; Verdön, İrem (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2010)
The material defined as ‘artificial stone’, frequently used on the façades of the late 19th and early 20th century buildings, is a mixture of binder, aggregate and other additives and may either be applied directly as a coating on wall surfaces or precast in moulds and then attached to façades as decorative architectural elements (1). One of the effects of the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century was a tendency to standardize architectural production, which in turn moved away from time-consuming ...
Analysis of Laminated Glass Units
Vallabhan, C. V. Girija ; Das, YC; Magdi, M; Aşık, Mehmet Zülfü; Bailey, JR (1993-05-01)
Laminated glass units used for glazing buildings consist of two thin glass plates bonded together by a thin core material, called polyvinyl butyral (PVB). As the plates are usually thin and undergo large lateral displacements, the conventional thin plate theory cannot be applied; instead, a nonlinear theory of plates has to be employed. As well, the interlayer, though soft in material properties, provides significant change in the overall behavior of the composite. Variational calculus and minimum potent...
A study on different dynamic solar shading control strategies using multi criteria design optimization
Gürsel Dino, İpek (null; 2016-10-15)
The correct design of shading devices that control the amount of daylighting entering a building is an integral part of performative building design. Solar control devices have the potential to reduce building cooling load, improve the daylighting performance and reduce the negative effect of glare in building spaces. Solar shading design strategies, therefore, need to consider multiple criteria together and find an optimal tradeoff between them. This paper presents our experiments on differe...
