Breve estudo sobre o narrador do romance romântico

Abstract

Resumo: A presente dissertação tem como objetivo rastrear, a partir do que gostaria de chamar de princípio moral-didatizante, a constituição de um narrador "brasileiro". Trata-se, no fundo, de entender como se foi constituindo uma voz narrativa em nossa ficção ao longo do período formativo inicial, que corresponde, grosso modo, ao momento da escola romântica (1843- 1881). Para tanto, pretende-se observar o percurso desse princípio, dentro do discurso do narrador, ao longo do período recortado e suas implicações para a formação de uma voz narrativa local. A hipótese por detrás dessa abordagem é a de que o princípio moraldidatizante é uma manifestação discursiva que sintetiza diversas questões fundamentais para a constituição do narrador e, em sentido amplo, do romance brasileiro.

Abstract: This dissertation aims to map the formation of the narrator in the 19th Century Brazilian novel. Based on the so-called moral-didactic principle (princípio moraldidatizante), it aims to offer an understanding of the point of view in the Brazilian novels, written between 1843 and 1881. Thus, it was necessary to trace the relationship between narrator’s moral interventions in the plot and its role to the formation of a local narrative voice in those novels. The hypothesis behind this approach is the following: the oraldidactic principle seems to be a discursive manifestation which summarizes several important points to the formation of the point of view and, why not, to the rise of the Brazilian novel.
