Abstract: The present task has an aim to extend the comprehention about the Degree in Mathematics in distance from an study about the teaching of vectors. This research has been done at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, that is part of the Open University System of Brazil, and offers, among other upper level courses, the course of Degree in Mathematics. Among the possible focus of this work, I opted for the interaction, because of its importance for the process of teaching and learning in distance education can happen dynamically. To achieve the goal of this research were conducted five interviews: (1) with one of the teachers who is responsible for the discipline of analytic geometry, (2) with a tutor at distance, (3) with a tutor face (4 and 5) with two students. Furthermore, it was developed and applied a questionnaire to students who were attending this course, as well as a study done on the virtual environment, the educational material, the video classes and video conferences on the subject. What could be observed at the end of this study was that there are differences between what was prescribed by theoretical and what actually happens. There was also the existence of resources in the virtual environment of the course (discussion forums, chat, etc.), which are but little or never used by students, teachers and/or tutors.
