No inverno (jul/08 e set/08) ocorreram as menores abundâncias.

The presence or absence of crab "ghost-crab" Ocypode quadrata (Fabricius, 1787) (Crustacea, Brachyura, Ocypodidae) has been used as an indicator of human impact on ocean beaches, although this organism make great trophic and behavioral plasticity. This study aimed to analyze the spatial and temporal variation (monthly and daily) of the abundance of O. quadrata along the estuarine beach of the Village of Superagüi and whether in the areas of continuous flow of pedestrians could be affecting their populations. Indirect census (ie, counting and measuring the diameter of the active burrows) were performed every two months (maio/07 to maio/08, totaling 7 sampling) and daily (three consecutive days of janeiro/08, março/08 and maio/08), always during low tide and in favorable weather conditions. The arc praial studied was divided into 6 sections (A to F) covering the entire length of the village is "A" the most internal and "F" the most external area, near the outfall. The sectors "C" and "D" correspond to the central part of the town, which is the area of increased flow of people. In each sector were chosen at random, 5 transects perpendicular to the water line. Transects were used in the squares of 1m² surface area (1x1 m side) to estimate the abundance of holes. The squares were arranged, continuously, from the last line of the deposition of debris or vegetation to the occurrence of burrows into the water line. Topographical profiles revealed in the internal-external direction, a gradual increase in the extent of each sector (from 25 to 70 m) and a reduction in slope. Sediments in the sectors were classified as fine sand very well selected. Throughout the study, a total of 1.014 holes was measured in the bimonthly campaigns and 1.878 in the daily campaigns. The differences in the abundance of burrows were recorded. The campaign for bimonthly bifactorial ANOVA revealed differences among and between the sampling period. In the months following the spring and summer (nov/07, jan/08 and mar/08), were recorded the highest abundance of burrows. In winter (u/08 and set/08) were the lowest abundance. These differences are related to air temperature. As regards spatial distribution, were observed in lower -density the internal sectors (A and B) by comparing them with the external sectors (E and F). For the daily campaigns, the ANOVAS confirmed that the variations in abundance are made depending on the weather. On days when there was incidence of winds of the south face, decreased in abundance in all sectors of jan/08 and mai/08. The abundances were also lower in the three days of maio/08, because the air temperature was below 21°C. As the sectors posted (C and D) showed no discrepancies with the other sectors, we can infer that there were no significant fluctuations in abundance around the village. Therefore, the impacts resulting from human activities were classified as low in the village of Superagüi.
