Abstract
La presentación tardía (PT) de la infección por VIH es un problema relevante en nuestro medio que tiene nefastas consecuencias tanto a nivel del individuo como a nivel comunitario. Es importante conocer los factores de riesgo y características que se relacionan con la población más vulnerable de presentar un diagnóstico tardío, para poder diseñar estrategias dirigidas y efectivas que mejoren el diagnóstico precoz. OBJETIVOS: Determinar la prevalencia de PT, presentación con enfermedad avanzada (PEA) y presentación en estadio sida en pacientes con infección por VIH en el Hospital 12 de Octubre y analizar los factores de riesgo relacionados. Estudiar las consecuencias clínicas derivadas de la PT, PEA y presentación en estadio sida, en forma de aparición de enfermedades asociadas a sida (EAS), enfermedades no asociadas a sida (ENOS) y mortalidad.
