Abstract
El presente artículo realiza un breve análisis sobre algunos de los discursos que se publicaron en Estados Unidos durante las dos primeras décadas del siglo XX respecto a la política exterior de la Casa Blanca y su impacto sobre Latinoamérica. Un caso excepcional fue el de las voces que emanaron desde distintos círculos de opinión donde se criticó o justificó la postura neutral de la Casa Blanca ante el estallido revolucionario en México. Se consideró que las acciones tomadas por el Departamento de Estado ante el país vecino reflejaban no solo un interés económico o social, sino también geopolítico. Dicha discusión se alimentó de comparaciones y ejemplos que aludieron al trato diferenciado de la acción interventora estadounidense hacia México de frente a otras revueltas políticas en Latinoamérica. This article makes a brief analysis of some of the speeches that were published in the United States during the first two decades of the twentieth century regarding the foreign policy of the White House and its impact on Latin America. An exceptional case was the voices emanating from different circles of opinion where the White House's neutral stance was criticized or justified by the revolutionary outbreak in Mexico. It was considered that the actions taken by the State Department in the neighboring country reflected not only an economic or social interest, but also a geopolitical one. This discussion was fueled by comparisons and examples that alluded to the differential treatment of US intervening action against Mexico in face of other political revolts in Latin America.
