要旨
SU(5) grand unification predicts a new particle which is the partner of the Higgs doublet. Usually, this new Higgs triplet is anticipated to be quite heavy such that the theory matches the very long proton lifetime. The mass difference between the doublet and triplet is called the doublet-triplet splitting problem. But what if the Higgs triplet is light, mT ~ 1 TeV? We study how this influences the phenomenology of the theory, also taking into account effective operators. We split the coupling of the triplet and doublet using 5-dimensional operators. Tuning down the triplet interaction then allows us to slow down proton decay. We also look at the current limits of neutron oscillations and neutron decay.
