[en] The solution coefficient of CO2 in water increases three times when temperature decreases from 35 to 0°C. It was deduced from this, by some researchers, that cold waters are richer in CO2 than warm waters, and thus more aggressive towards limestone. Indeed, CO2 content of water is, according to Henry's law, the product of the solution coefficient by the partial pressure of CO2 in air. This partial pressure varies much more than solution coefficient, and often in the opposite direction. Certains chercheurs en ont déduit que les eaux froides sont plus riches en CO2 que les eaux chaudes, et donc plus agressives vis-à-vis du calcaire. En fait, suivant la loi de Henry, la teneur de l'eau en CO2 est fonction du coefficient de dissolution et de la pression partielle du CO2 dans l'air surincombant. Cette pression varie beaucoup plus que le coefficient, et souvent en sens inverse. Sous climat chaud, les eaux contiennent finalement souvent plus de CO2 que sous climat froid.
