Abstract :
[en] The number of older people continues to increase every year in Belgium. The proportion of people over 65 in the Belgian population is expected to increase from 16% in 2018 to 23% in 2070. This demographic transition represents one of the major public health challenges for public authorities. In particular, the Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre (KCE) plans the increase of the number of institutionalized people in the coming years. According to the Agencyfor a Quality Life (AVIQ), the quality of care and the prevention of loss of independence should be the main concerns of nursing homes. Scientific research addressing these themes is important to contribute to future recommendations and guide health policies.
